For Research

1. Research what happened to the Cherokees who were removed from their land.

The Cherokee were mainly in Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. They were a settled tribe, and had even adopted a Christian religion, and some of the White Man's tradition.  Once the white people found gold in these lands, it was time for the Native Americans to move. So some thirteen different tribes set out on the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma.
Once in Oklahoma, although the land was not what they were used to, the Cherokee made do with what they had. They quickly began developing towns filled with houses, schools, churches, and various stores. Although some had to move again with the beginning of westward expansion, the Cherokee were relatively left alone in their new home.
