For Research 5

1. How did Rousseau's ideas influence the leaders of the French Revolution?

First let me start off saying that both of these essays were hard to understand, and it took me forever to find real answers for the research questions. I looked at all four of them, and I couldn't find any answers. Sooo... don't be surprised if my answer for this question is horrible.

Rousseau influenced the leaders of the French Revolution with his teachings and philosophies. The most popular theory was recorded in his book, The Social Contract. In this book, he stated how man is naturally good, and that it was civilization that had corrupted everyone. He believed that the rich took advantage of the poor, and in order to change things, everything has to be equal. He felt that the best state would be a genuine democracy, with a moral association that bound people together in freedom, equality and civic devotion, rather than social class.
The leaders of the French Revolution took this to heart, and began thinking that in order to change how government, there would have to be a revolution. The revolution was based on the principles taught by Rousseau, and  the main changes that took place were the changes that Rousseau had suggested.
