1. Research the relationship between the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment
The Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves in the states that were in rebellion against the Union. This was issued in 1863, about mid way into the civil war. The cause of this was not only to free the slaves, but also so that those freed slaves could go and help the Union fight the Confederacy. The Thirteenth Amendment to the constitution was passed after the war in 1865, and it freed all slaves everywhere.
The relationship between the two are fairly obvious. They both freed slaves. Each was a result to the Civil war. President Lincoln was at the forefront of both. Each changed slaves lives, and America as a whole.
